Mt. Pleasant Water Treatment Facility
The Mt. Pleasant Water Treatment Facility (MPWTF) was built by the Town of Mt. Pleasant in 1981. MPWTF, which is permitted to produce 1.0 million gallons per day of treated potable water, has been owned and operated by WSACC since 2000. The facility produces an average of 250,000 gallons per day, supplying the Town of Mt. Pleasant as a wholesale provider.
WSACC received a Clean Water Grant for $1.644 million in 2003 for upgrades to the Mt. Pleasant Water System. This project included: a new 300,000 gallon elevated storage tank; approximately 15,000 feet of new or replacement waterlines for the Town of Mt. Pleasant distribution system; a new booster pump station and 8,730 feet of water line to interconnect with the City of Concord; and, telemetry, updated water treatment plant controls and security measures.
